Former Texas Rangers and New York Yankees star Mark Teixeira won his Republican primary race in Texas on Tuesday night.
Teixeria, who received an endorsement from President Trump, won Texas’s 21st Congressional District in a race that was not close at all.
With nearly 67% of the vote counted, Teixeria was declared the winner after garnering 61.2% of the vote against the runner-up, Navy veteran Jason Cahill, who received 10.2%

Per The Hill:
Retired professional baseball player Mark Teixeira is projected to win the Republican primary in Texas’s 21st congressional district, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Teixeira defeated a crowded GOP field in the race to succeed Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who is running for attorney general in the Lone Star State. That position is being vacated by Ken Paxton (R), who is challenging incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).
A three-time MLB All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, five-time Gold Glove Award winner and 2009 World Series champion with the New York Yankees, Teixeira retired from baseball after the 2016 season.
He threw his name into the race last August — after Roy launched his bid for state Attorney General — and has closely aligned himself with President Trump and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).
Teixeira will now face Democrat Kristin Hook in the general election.
In February, President Trump took to Truth Social and wrote, “Mark Teixeira is a former Major League Baseball STAR, and tremendous America First Candidate, who is running to represent the incredible people of Texas’ 21st Congressional District.”
Trump added, “I know Mark well, and he is a TOTAL WINNER, on and off the field! An MLB All-Star, Mark’s career was ‘loaded up’ with Accolades and WINS, including five Gold Gloves, three Silver Sluggers, and a World Series Championship.”
In case you have never seen him on the baseball diamond, the former Rangers and Yankees slugger could absolutely play.
