The FBI has now joined the search for retired Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland, who was reported missing in New Mexico.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, retired Maj. Gen. McCasland, who previously commanded the Phillips Research Site at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, has been reported missing since Friday.
McCasland served three years as the commander of the Phillips Research Site at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, which is notable for its directed-energy weapons and advanced space technologies.
The investigation into McCasland’s disappearance is being led by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, and on Tuesday afternoon, the office announced it has partnered with the FBI Albuquerque Field Office.
In a post on X, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Due to his background and established partnerships, BCSO is coordinating closely with multiple agencies, including the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, which is assisting as standard practice when it has a tool, tactic, or technique that may benefit the investigation. BCSO remains the lead agency.”

Per The New York Post:
The FBI has joined the search for a retired US Air Force general — who once led a site long rumored to be tied to UFO research — after he was reported missing in New Mexico.
Retired Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland, 68, was last seen in Albuquerque about 11 a.m. Friday, local authorities said. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office quickly issued a Silver Alert — a system often used for missing people with medical issues — amid concerns for his safety and well-being.
The feds have since confirmed they are assisting the sheriff’s office, as well as New Mexico Search and Rescue, as the effort stretched into its fourth day.
“The FBI Albuquerque Field Office is involved in this investigation, as it is standard practice for the FBI to assist our local law enforcement partners if we have a tool, tactic, or technique that could benefit their investigations,” a spokesperson told The Post in a statement. “The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is leading this investigation.”
McCasland’s disappearance comes a month after NBC star Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing in Tucson, Arizona.
Unlike Guthrie’s case, McCasland’s disappearance has not been reported as an abduction, and authorities say he suffers from “clear indications of irreversible cognitive decline,” whereas Guthrie was described as “sharp as a tack” before she vanished.
