The second Brown University shooting victim has been identified as 18-year-old Uzbekistan immigrant Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.
A total of two people were killed and nine were injured in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University.
Law enforcement took a ‘person of interest’ into custody overnight on Saturday but released him late Sunday.
The mass shooter is still at large.
Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov attended Brown University in hopes of becoming a neurosurgeon, his family said in a GoFundMe post.
“On December 13, MukhammadAziz Umurzokov was tragically taken from us in the Brown University shooting. He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people. He continues to be my family’s biggest role model in all aspects. He always lent a helping hand to anyone in need without hesitation, and was the most kind-hearted person our family knew. Our family is incredibly devastated by this loss. Any donations will help significantly with any expenses my family will have to face, and the rest of the funds will be donated to charity in his name,” his family said on GoFundMe.
The New York Post reported:
The second victim fatally gunned down in the Brown University shooting was identified as a “bright and promising” Uzbekistan immigrant who dreamed of becoming a neurosurgeon, according to officials and loved ones.
Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18, was a scholarship pupil who had “big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon” so he could help others before an unidentified shooter opened fire inside a final exam review session Saturday afternoon.
His two sisters told the New York Times he and his family entered the US in 2011 and later became naturalized citizens living in Virginia.
He was described as “gentle” and “extroverted” who worked at Wawa over the summer to purchase a new laptop ahead of the school year, his siblings Rukhsora Umurzokova, 22, and Samara Umurzokova, 15, told the outlet.
He chose to attend the elite Ivy League school because it provided him the best financial package, they added.
Ella Cook, 19, on Sunday night was identified as one of the victims killed in the shooting at Brown University, according to her church in Alabama.
Ella Cook was a member of Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Vice President of Brown University’s Republican Club.
