Democrat lawmakers have criminally referred former DHS Chief Kristi Noem for “repeated false statements” during a Congressional oversight hearings.

The Trump Justice Department is unlikely to act on the criminal referral.
However, the Democrats are giving a sneak peek into what they will do if they take back the White House in 2029.
President Trump earlier this month fired Kristi Noem as DHS Chief and immediately announced that Senator Markwayne Mullin (OK) will become the next Secretary of Homeland Security effective March 31.
NBC News reported that Trump was not happy with Kristi Noem’s performance during the Congressional hearings.
The outlet reported that Trump was unhappy with Noem about her decision to approve a $200 million DHS ad campaign.
Trump reportedly called Senator John Kennedy “mad as a murder hornet” after hearing what Noem claimed under oath.
“I heard the Secretary say that she went to the President and said, I propose to spend a quarter billion dollars on TV advertisements in which I am the star, and the President thought that was a swell idea, that’s what I heard the Secretary say. Her version of the truth and the President’s version of the truth are decidedly different,” Senator Kennedy told Fox News reporter Bill Melugin.
Noem reportedly approved a limited-bid contract and then lied to Congress when she claimed Trump approved the $200 million ads contract.
One of the three firms that was approved was linked to Lewandowski, who is long-rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Noem.

“Noem and Lewandowski were quite aware that the president was not happy with something that Noem said in her testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she was grilled about this $220 million ad campaign featuring her,” CBS reported.
Corey Lewandowski, senior adviser to Kristi Noem and a former Trump campaign manager, is also leaving the Department of Homeland Security, as Noem was reassigned Thursday by President Trump to serve as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
