A former Iranian political prisoner proved once again this week that telling the truth to CNN employees and contributors causes them to react like screaming banshees.
On Thursday night, Kian Tajbakhsh was a guest on CNN’s Newsnight where he was invited to give his take on the attacks Iran during “Operation Epic Fury,” which was launched last Saturday.
Left-wing political commentator Ashley Allison quickly went on the attack, accusing the Trump Administration of lying about the reason for attacking Iran and flip-flopping.
But Tajbakhsh, who was imprisoned after the 2009 Green Revolution, calmly pointed out that Allison and others were missing the point. Trump never actually started any war with Iran.
The truth is Iran has been fighting the United States at some level ever since the fall of the Shah in 1979 and subsequent rise of the terror state that calls itself ‘the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Tajbakhsh then shared a story: a little over two decades ago, he was in Iran working on very high-level projects when he was approached by a senior figure in the foreign ministry in Tehran.
As Tajbakhsh left, the man told him Iran was in a cold war with America, but a war regardless.
Upon hearing this message, the panel erupted into hysterics, yelling.

Abby Phillip and Ashley Allison were spiraling over whether the U.S. is actually at war with Iran.
That’s when Tajbakhsh dropped an absolute truth bomb: “I think… pic.twitter.com/XddsKT7FWT

ALLISON: Two days ago, yesterday, this morning, I was told we were not at war. Today in the press conference, Pete Hegseth says, End the war.
Are we at war? Are we not at war? Do we want regime change or do we not?
AJBAKHSH: You know, I know this may sound controversial among my friends, but I think a lot of commentary is missing the big picture.
To simplify it, I would put it this way. I don’t think it’s right to say that President Trump has started a war with Iran. I think President Trump wants to finish a war that Iran started in 1979, 47 years ago.
These aren’t just words. Let me tell you an anecdote. In 2003 and 2004, when I was in Iran working on projects at a very high level, I was talking with deputy ministers…going back and forth. I was in the foreign ministry in Tehran, where I met someone very senior who was semi-sympathetic to the projects we were doing.”
“But as I was leaving, he looked me in the eye and said, “As an Iranian-American, I want you to listen very carefully.” He said we are in this building, meaning the foreign ministry, meaning the government, meaning the regime.”
He said we believe we are at war with the United States. He said at that time it was a cold war, but it was a war nonetheless.
(audible yelling ensues)
