White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the “liberal biased media” on Monday in response to The Gateway Pundit questioning the outrage over the death of Alex Pretti, an armed leftist who was interfering with ICE operations in Minneapolis, when compared to the execution of Ashli Babbitt, an innocent January 6 protester and US Air Force veteran who was murdered in cold blood.
The leftwing media has come to the defense of Alex Pretti, who allegedly pulled his gun on federal agents while he was being wrestled to the ground.
Border Commander Greg Bovino told reporters on Saturday that the incident occurred while federal agents were attempting to arrest Jose Huerta Chuma of Ecuador, an illegal alien who had a record of domestic assault to intentionally inflict bodily harm, disorderly conduct, and driving without a valid license. Pretti appeared to be trying to “do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement” with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two fully loaded magazines when he was shot dead, Bovino said.
CNN’s Dana Bash has argued that Pretti was lawfully just documenting ICE with his cellphone when law enforcement “went after him,” and she accused Bovino of “blaming the victim.” Other outlets have similarly glorified Pretti and made this incident a focal point of Trump’s second term.
Meanwhile, Ashli Babbitt was murdered by Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd in the US Capitol while she was unarmed and several feet away from her killer, and she received no sympathy from the leftwing media.
“There has no doubt been selective outrage by the liberal biased media in picking and choosing victims and highlighting their stories,” Leavitt noted, further pointing to the deaths of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungary, and other innocent Americans who have been victimized by illegal aliens over the years.
“It’s unfortunate that we did not see the same type of sensationalist media coverage over the tragic deaths of those innocent American women and girls across the country as we are in the wake of this tragedy that took place on Saturday,” she added.

Conradson: With respect to the shooting in Minneapolis, we’re seeing massive outrage from the mainstream media and the left, but I’m just wondering where was that outrage when Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was executed by Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd, who she posed no threat to in the US Capitol?
Leavitt: Well, you raise a very important point, which I also believe that I just raised as well in those opening remarks, in that there has no doubt been selective outrage by the liberal biased media in picking and choosing victims and highlighting their stories. And as I’ve said, President Trump does not want any Americans to lose their lives in the streets of America and in American communities across the country. He believes what happened on Saturday is a tragedy, but every life is equal to President Trump.
And that’s why the lives of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungary continue to matter to him and be an utmost priority to him to this very day. And it’s unfortunate that we did not see the same type of sensationalist media coverage over the tragic deaths of those innocent American women and girls across the country as we are in the wake of this tragedy that took place on Saturday.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Leavitt also tore into Democratic politicians and the mainstream media during her opening remarks at today’s press conference, crediting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s lawless policies for the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
Pretti’s death, she said, “occurred as a result of a deliberate and hostile resistance by Democrat leaders in Minnesota.”
