No coup, only a confused army with a knee-jerk reaction.
Caracas woke up frightened, after two hellish nights: first, on Sunday (4), US troops bombarded the capital and, in a jaw-dropping operation, inserted Navy Seal operators who extracted dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife to face trial in the US.
And after that, Monday (5) night saw heavy gunfire near the Miraflores presidential palace, as well as anti-aircraft fire lighting up the sky.

But was there a coup in progress, as so many reported? Apparently, no.
Following reports of gunfire, the Venezuelan Ministry of Communications has released a statement saying that ‘there are no clashes and everything is under control’ in Caracas.
The government of Venezuela stated that ‘there were unauthorized drones’.
Yes, you read it right: the heavy fire was caused by a simple civilian drone – talk about being on edge.
Even then, an energy blackout in hit parts of Caracas.
And Miraflores Palace is now surrounded by armored vehicles, while troops are being heavily deployed in areas around the presidential palace in Venezuela.

But the fake combats made at least one very real victim.
Inspector with the CPNB, Lisbetty Medina was injured in the head by a stray bullet while working at the Detainee Control and Protection Center in San Agustín.
She was taken to the Apascacio Mata Medical Center for medical attention.
