Violence did not take a break for Christmas on the streets of Democrat-controlled Chicago, as at least eight people were shot, one fatally.
This comes on the heels of a mass shooting in the city on Christmas Eve.
According to reports from local outlets, the violence unfolded across multiple neighborhoods, with victims ranging in age and including both men and women.

One of the most tragic incidents occurred in the Park Manor neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, where a man estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old was found shortly after 10 p.m. with two gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating.
Just an hour later, around 11 p.m., another shooting erupted in the 300-block of West Marquette Road in the Englewood neighborhood. A 37-year-old man was critically wounded following an argument that escalated into gunfire. He was transported to a hospital in serious condition, fighting for his life.
Chicago police reported at least six additional non-fatal shootings that night, bringing the total to at least eight victims, according to a report from Breitbart News.
The bloodshed wasn’t confined to Chicago.
In the west suburb of Aurora, three women aged 34, 36, and 55 were shot at a Christmas party around 8 p.m. on Christmas Day.
The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals.
Police are searching for the shooter, but no suspects have been identified.
These Christmas night shootings follow a horrific mass shooting on Christmas Eve in Englewood, where four men were ambushed just after midnight pn South Halsted Street.
One victim, a 52-year-old man, was fatally shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The other three—a 27-year-old, 38-year-old, and 33-year-old—were wounded but survived.
Two suspects approached the group and opened fire before fleeing.
No arrests have been reported.
CWBChicago, a public safety watchdog, pointed out how Mayor Johnson’s decision to dismantle the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system delayed responses to two additional shootings on Christmas night. Victims were found lying on streets without initial 911 calls, one of whom died.
“Mayor Brandon Johnson refused to reverse his decision to dismantle the system, despite calls to preserve it from a majority of aldermen, numerous residents, victims’ advocates, and his own appointed police superintendent,” CWBChicago reports.
Retired Chicago Police Chief Thomas Weitzel shared his frustration on X, stating it was not a “peaceful” Christmas for CPD officers.

This holiday violence is just the latest chapter in Chicago’s crime epidemic.
As of December 27, the city has seen 392 homicides for the year, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, a staggering number that critics attribute to lenient bail reforms, defund-the-police rhetoric, and resistance to tougher law enforcement.
How many more lives must be lost before Democrat leaders abandon their failed policies and prioritize public safety?
