Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha on Thursday evening said the Brown University shooter made “barking noises” before opening fire.
The shooter, 48-year-old Claudio Neves-Valente, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside of a storage unit in Salem, New Hampshire, on Thursday evening.
Neves-Valente was found dead six days after he opened fire at Brown University and killed two students and critically wounded nine.
He was a Brown University student and a Portuguese national. DHS Chief Kristi Noem said Neves-Valente entered the US on an immigration lottery in 2017.

On Thursday evening, a reporter asked Rhode Island AG Neronha about what Neves-Valente allegedly shouted as he opened fire.
According to unconfirmed reports, Neves-Valente reportedly shouted “Allah Akbar” as he opened fire.
However, Neronha says the shooter reportedly made barking noises as he opened fire.
“In terms of what was said, I don’t know anymore today than what I told you yesterday. There are some witnesses said he said nothing. There are some that say he made a barking noise. I don’t know why. And that’s it,” AG Neronha said.
He continued, “There is no other spoken word beyond that that we are aware of.”
