New details have emerged on the unidentified suspect who shot two National Guardsmen in Washington, DC, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gateway Pundit reported that the two members of the West Virginia National Guard, who were shot, were rumored to be killed. However, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey now said there are conflicting reports about the condition of the two guard members.
West Virginia “will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information,” Morrisey said.
Now, it’s being reported that the suspect appeared to target the National Guard troops and it not cooperating with investigators The suspect reportedly does not have any identification on him, fueling speculation that he could be an illegal alien.

Two members of the West Virginia National Guardsmen have been shot in Washington, DC, and their conditions are unknown, according to the state’s Gov. Patrick Morrisey. The governor earlier said that the guardsmen were believed to be dead, but later said on social media that there were “conflicting reports” about their conditions.
The suspect appeared to be targeting the guardsmen, firing first at one of them who was mere feet away, according to three law enforcement sources. A source said the suspect then fired at the other guardsman who tried to get behind a bus stop shelter.
The suspect is not cooperating with investigators and had no identification on him at the time of his arrest, a source said.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, at least two National Guard members were shot near the White House on Wednesday, causing the White House to come under lockdown.
Vice President JD Vance responded to the news while delivering remarks to troops at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
He called for those in attendance at his speech to “say a prayer for those two National Guardsmen that they’re able to spend Thanksgiving with their families, instead of losing their lives, because I understand they’re still in pretty tough condition.”
President Trump also responded, noting that the suspect is also “severely wounded,” along with the military members he shot.
The “animal,” he said, “will pay a very steep price.”
