Chief of the United States Border Patrol (USBP), Michael Banks, joined Newsmax to discuss the Trump administration’s significant success in protecting the southern border.
Banks told Newsmax, “But I will say this, the United States border patrol is exactly that. We’re the United States Border Patrol, and we will go anywhere in the United States and arrest those in this country illegally.”
“There’s no such thing as sanctuary from immigration laws.”
“This is not about the type of status. It’s about status. You’re either in this country legally or illegally, and we’ll go anywhere in this country.”
“Yes, Chief Bovino out of the El Centro sector, commonly referred to as Commander of Operation at Large, Listen, we’re going to go wherever we need to go in order to enforce immigration law in this country.”
“Because we’ve gotten unprecedented levels of control on our Southern border, record lows, it has allowed us to expand and move those operations into the internal part of the United States and go after those individuals that were brought into this country, released, unvetted, mind you, into this country under the Biden administration.”
“We’ve got a job to do, and it’s all gas, no breaks downhill.”
“If you’re in this country illegally, you should take advantage of the many opportunities that the US government is providing you to self-deport, to leave on your own in an attempt to come back in the right way, or expect that someone from the United States Border Patrol will find you, arrest you, and deport you.”

On X, Banks also noted that USBP has ended the practice of ‘catch and release.’
