Liberal Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis is speaking out after receiving intense backlash for comments she made about conservative activist Charlie Kirk shortly after his assassination in September.
In an appearance on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast just two days after Kirk’s death, Curtis expressed disagreement with his views, but offered what some interpreted as a moderately sympathetic to his personal life and faith.
Curtis had stated, “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith.”
The actress added, “Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.”

The remarks quickly went viral, drawing “threatening” criticism from those who felt Curtis was too lenient or positive toward Kirk.
The left, which she is part of, accused her of humanizing someone they viewed as an adversary, the ultimate sin on their side.
In a recent interview with Variety, Curtis addressed the controversy and walked back her comments, claiming that her words had been “mistranslated” and taken out of context.
“An excerpt of it mistranslated what I was saying as I wished him well, like I was talking about him in a very positive way, which I wasn’t. I was simply talking about his faith in God,” she said.
Curtis used the moment to critique the “binary world” of modern discourse, where nuance is often lost.
“In the binary world today, you cannot hold two ideas at the same time: I cannot be Jewish and totally believe in Israel’s right to exist and at the same time reject the destruction of Gaza,” she said. “You can’t say that, because you get vilified for having a mind that says, ‘I can hold both those thoughts. I can be contradictory in that way.’”
She then added, “So it was a mistranslation, which is a pun, but not.”
Curtis’ need to clarify her commentary underscores the left’s intolerance for even mild acknowledgments of humanity in their opponents.
Kirk was brutally shot in the neck in front of a massive audience during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
Tyler Robinson, a leftist with a transgender furry boyfriend, has been charged with his murder.
If convicted, Robinson will be eligible for the death penalty.
In the aftermath of Kirk’s murder, leftists took to social media to celebrate in droves. This time, however, the right fought back and got countless teachers, nurses, and other professionals fired for their ridiculously cruel behavior.
