The return of a deadly routine?
The fragile peace agreement between Israel and Hamas seems on the brink of collapsing, as back-and-forth attacks bring the Middle East back to the brink.
Earlier today, Israeli media reported that an IDF soldier was ‘killed by sniper fire’ in Rafah, southern Gaza.
The Israeli reaction was swift, and Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip.

Times of Israel reported:
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructs the IDF to ‘carry out immediate and powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip’, says his office after he called a meeting on Israel’s response to repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire.
The decision comes shortly after IDF troops came under attack in the southern Gaza Strip, and amid Israeli anger after further Hamas violations involving the return of hostages’ bodies.”

Fox News reported:
“An Israeli military official told Fox News that the terrorist group Hamas has violated the ongoing Gaza ceasefire by attacking Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers in Rafah.
Tuesday’s incident comes after two IDF soldiers were killed by terror operatives in Rafah earlier this month, Israeli military sources confirmed to Fox News Digital on Oct. 19.
‘Following the security consultations, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the military echelon to carry out immediate and powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip’, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday.”
The flare-up in violence may impede the return by Hamas of the bodies of the deceased hostages.
Associated Press reported:
“There are still 13 bodies of hostages in Gaza. Hamas said Tuesday it had recovered the body of a hostage, but after Israeli announced the plans to strike Gaza, Hamas said it in a statement it would delay the handover.”
