Meloni between Erdoğan’s worries and Trump’s praises.
Once again, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stole the spotlight as she attended the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt after the Historic Trump-brokered Agreement signed between Israel and Hamas.
Italy was a minor player in the grand scheme of things, but Meloni’s charm and good looks – not to mention her smoking habit – made her a center of attention.
To begin with, Meloni became a target for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s anti-tobacco crusade.
Erdoğan told Meloni he would help her stop smoking, as she started again after quitting for 13 years.
Politico reported:
“’You look great. But I have to make you stop smoking’, Erdoğan told Meloni, according to footage published by Italian daily Il Foglio and other media.
But French President Emmanuel Macron, who was next to them, was quick to dash Erdoğan’s hopes. ‘It’s impossible!’ he said laughing.
‘I know, I know’, Meloni said, adding a warning that quitting smoking might make her less sociable. ‘I don’t want to kill somebody’.”

Erdogan:
“I saw you coming down from the plane.
You look great.
But I have to make you stop smoking.”

“I know, I know.
I don’t want to kill somebody”

Even the undisputed star of the Summit, US President Donald J. Trump, basking in the glory of his monumental achievement, took a moment to acknowledge Meloni’s presence and her good looks.
Telegraph reported:
“Donald Trump gave her fulsome praise at the Sharm El Sheikh summit after he arrived from addressing the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
[…] The 79-year-old said: ‘I’m not allowed to say it because usually it’s the end of your political career if you say it. She’s a beautiful young woman!’
‘Now if you use the word beautiful in the United States about a woman, that’s the end of your political career, but I’ll take my chances!’
‘She wanted to be here and she’s incredible and they really respect her in Italy. She’s a very successful, very successful politician’.”
Trump to Italy’s Meloni:
In the U.S., if you tell a woman she’s beautiful, your political career is over — but I’ll take my chances.
You won’t be offended if I say you’re beautiful, right? Because you are. pic.twitter.com/1I0tpceIKu
