Comer will wait for Maxwell’s Supreme Court appeal before moving on with the deposition.
After three years holed up and forgotten in a cell in the tough FCI Tallahassee, Florida, Ghislaine Maxwell is again under the relentless spotlight of the media.
As the controversy over the Jeffrey Epstein files has been brewing, the disgraced British socialite suddenly saw herself in sudden demand, being what lawyer Alan Dershowitz called ‘the Rosetta stone that can decipher the case’.
A week ago, she gave two long, comprehensive interviews to deputy AG Todd Blanche after being granted limited immunity to do so.
Today, it arose that After Interviews With DOJ, Ghislaine Maxwell Is Discreetly Moved From Tough FCI Tallahassee, Florida Prison to Minimum-Security Camp Bryan in Texas.
This development led to harsh criticism from the family of Epstein victim, the late Virginia Giuffre.

In the meantime, Maxwell was also subpoenaed for a deposition by the House Oversight Committee, and reacted by saying she wanted immunity to testify, otherwise she’d be obliged to plead the 5th.
Today (1), we learn that House Republicans have agreed to postpone her August 11 deposition.
New York Post reported:
“Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) denied requests from Maxwell’s lawyer David Oscar Markus to provide immunity in exchange for her testimony — but agreed to push the interview back until after the US Supreme Court considers an appeal of the disgraced socialite’s 2021 federal conviction.”

“’Regarding your requested conditions, the Committee is willing to continue to engage in good faith negotiations’, Comer wrote to Markus.
‘However, the Committee is unwilling to grant you congressional immunity … at this time,” he said. “Further, while the Committee is unwilling to send you questions in advance, the Committee will continue its long-standing practice of engaging in forthright and detailed discussions about scoping’.”
The Supreme Court is expected to rule on Maxwell’s petition for writ of certiorari on September 29, so the Oversight Committee will delay her deposition until after the Court’s determination.
