With all the escalation surrounding the war in the Middle East and the continued conflict in the Ukraine, we’ve come to the point where the process of the détente between the US and Russia has apparently lost its momentum.
On the one hand, we did see US President Donald J. Trump today (16), on arriving to the G7 meeting in Canada, repeat that getting Russia out of the G8 ‘was a mistake’, and that isolating the country led to escalations.

HOLY SMOKES! Trump just TORCHED the globalists at the G7 for facilitating the Ukraine-Russia war by preventing diplomacy with Russia.

“I look forward to that. The G7 used to be the G8. Barack Obama and a person named Trudeau didn’t want to have Russia in. And I would say that that was a mistake, because I think you wouldn’t have a war right now if you had Russia in, and you wouldn’t have a war right now if Trump were president four years ago. But it didn’t work out that way. But it used to be the G8, and now it’s, I guess, what’s that, nine years ago, eight years ago, it switched over.
So they threw Russia out, which I claimed was a very big mistake, even though I wasn’t in politics then. I was very loud about it. It was a mistake in that you spend so much time talking about Russia, and he’s no longer at the table. So it makes life more complicated. But you wouldn’t have had the war. And other than that, I think we’re going to accomplish a lot.”

But on the other hand, even if Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has complained that US-Russia ties ‘feel too warm’, in objective terms the normalization process between the nuclear superpowers apparently hit a major snag.
Russia announced today that the United States has cancelled the next round of talks between the two countries, in a setback for the process to improve bilateral ties.
Reuters reported:
“In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova did not say if Washington had given any reason for the break in the talks, which began after Trump returned to the White House in January.”

TASS reported:
“‘The next round of bilateral consultations focused on eliminating ‘irritants’ and normalizing the functioning of diplomatic missions has been canceled at the initiative of the US side’, Zakharova stated. ‘We hope the pause they have taken will not last too long’, she added.
On February 27 and April 10, two rounds of negotiations took place in Istanbul, focusing on restoring the functionality of the Russian and US embassies and addressing various bilateral concerns. During these consultations, Darchiev led the Russian delegation, while Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, headed the US team.”
