As the nation prepares to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary this Flag Day, a team of proud American patriots is heading to Washington, D.C. — not to be honored, but to serve.
In May, President Donald Trump announced the long talked about military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the United States Army by the Continental Congress will indeed take place in Washington, D.C. on June 14.
President Trump and the Army were born on the same day, June 14. Trump will turn 79 that day.
In addition to the parade, the celebration will feature a parachute jump, a concert, fireworks and a speech by President Trump.
Trump shared the announcement on Truth Social, saying, “I am proud to announce that we will be hosting a magnificent Parade to honor the United States Army’s 250th Birthday, on Saturday, June 14th, in Washington, D.C. For two and a half centuries, our brave soldiers have fought, bled, and died to keep us FREE, and now we will honor them with a wonderful Parade, one that is worthy of their service and sacrifice. Americans across the Nation are invited to attend.”
Led by Army veteran and founder of We Fund The Blue Foundation, John Rourke, a group of volunteers, chefs, and donors are coming together to feed over 8,500 U.S. soldiers and Department of the Army civilians in a massive show of appreciation during what promises to be the largest military parade in modern American history.
At the center of this effort is a patriotic promise: to feed our nation’s heroes with the highest-quality beef in America — the legendary Wagyu beef from Texas-based Chef and Rancher, provided by award-winning chef Austin Simmons.
This mission is being executed with precision thanks to a powerful partnership between FedEx and Freight Transportation Group, whose owner Dragos Sprinceana stepped in personally to ensure every ounce of beef arrives fresh and ready for the front lines. The beef itself is fully funded by Orion Power and patriotic donor Hansel “Orion” Bailey, whose generosity is helping to fuel this unforgettable tribute.
“This is about giving back to the men and women who give everything to this country,” said John Rourke. “We’re going to serve them with the best food, the best volunteers, and a whole lot of love for America.”
The initiative, dubbed “BBQ for the Brave: 250 Strong”, isn’t a one-time effort — it’s part of a broader movement that Rourke and his team have been spearheading for years.
Just weeks ago, the team returned from Naval Station Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, where they served over 2,500 troops and their families during a multi-day morale mission that included meals, entertainment, and community outreach.
During the height of the California wildfires, Rourke’s team fed more than 6,000 first responders, delivering hot meals, haircuts, and gratitude to those on the front lines.
And through his Make America Clean Again initiative, Rourke’s nonprofit has cleaned up over 131,000 pounds of trash in inner cities, at the southern border, and in forgotten corners of this country — proving that patriotism means showing up where others won’t.
Supported by donors, businesses, and proud American citizens, this Flag Day barbecue in our nation’s capital is more than a meal — it’s a message: America remembers, America serves, and America stands strong because of the men and women in uniform.
