A morbidly obese Detroit rapper who describes herself as a “BBW” – ‘Big Beautiful Woman’ – is suing Lyft for discrimination after one of its drivers told her she was too big to ride in his sedan.
Earlier this month Dank Demoss, AKA, Dajua Blanding, ordered a Lyft to attend a Detroit Lions party.
The Lyft driver pulled up in a Mercedes-Benz and informed Demoss that she wouldn’t be able to fit in his sedan.
“I can fit in this car,” Demoss told the Lyft driver to which he responded, “Believe me, you can’t.”
“I’ve been in this situation before,” the driver said.
Demoss responded, “So every big person, you turn down because they can’t fit in your car?”
The Lyft driver said his tires couldn’t handle her weight and suggested she order an Uber XL rideshare. He also reimbursed her for canceling the ride.
Dank Demoss reportedly weighs nearly 500 pounds.

Demoss is now suing Lyft for discrimination.
“I’ve been in cars smaller than that,” Demoss told FOX 2. “I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.”
Excerpt from Fox 2:
A Lyft driver denied a Detroit rapper a ride because of her size – and now she’s suing.
Dajua Blanding, known on stage as Dank Demoss, requested a ride to a Detroit Lions watch party earlier this month. However, when the driver arrived, he saw Blanding and told her he couldn’t give her a ride because of her weight. Blanding was recording the encounter.
Blanding has retained attorneys Jonathan Marko and Zach Runyan to sue for discrimination.
What they’re saying:
“I knew that it was illegal, and I knew that it was wrong,” Marko said.He said weight is a protected characteristic in Michigan. Marko said that denying someone a ride based on their weight would be the same as denying someone because of their race or religion – at least under the law.
Lyft drivers can turn down passengers for perceived security threats, but Marko said they cannot deny a ride based on protected characteristics.
