A New Jersey mayor has said the state ordered him to call in Hazmat and a bomb squad if any of the mystery drones are downed in his town.
Hundreds of drones have been flying over the state, with some reportedly being as big as a car.
Belleville Mayor Michael Melham discussed the shocking guidance on Friday’s “Faulkner Focus” episode on Fox News.
Mayor Melham explained that drones should not be treated as simple hobbyist technology.
“On the way here, I was on the phone with my OEM team and we now have guidance coming from the state,” Melham said.
The mayor added, “And that guidance does say two different things. First of all, if there is a downed drone in our vicinity, we’re immediately to call the bomb squad of our county, and, second, our fire department has been instructed to make sure they wear HAZMAT suits.”

“So, if something falls out of the sky that people have seen…you’re to treat this [like] more than a plane crash, it’s treated like an attack on the homeland?” host Harris Faulkner asked.
“That is correct, because they’re not quite sure if there’s a payload or not, and that’s what we were told during our briefing on Wednesday,” Melham replied.
Later in the interview, the mayor stated, “it sounds like it might very well be our highest-level government, it might be government assets that are being deployed as a countermeasure.”
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the drones do not belong to a “foreign entity or adversary” but did not explain what they are.
“There is not any truth to that,” said Singh. “There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States.”
The Pentagon also denied that the drones belong to the United States military.
“These are not U.S. military drones,” Singh said. “Again, this is being investigated by local law enforcement. What our initial assessment here is [is] that these are not drones or activities coming from a foreign entity or adversary.”
