“Kari Lake’s Potential Move to Iowa: A New Senate Battle?” trends on X
Kari Lake is trending on X/Twitter tonight as a potential contender to take on Joni Ernst (R-IA) for the U.S. Senate in 2026 after Ernst’s attempts to sabotage Trump’s incoming administration and Cabinet picks.
The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Joni Ernst said on Thursday that she is not yet a “yes” vote on Pete Hegseth after meeting with him privately. Ernst voted in favor of Biden’s incompetent DEI Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, but she draws the line with Pete Hegseth. What a gutless individual.
She didn’t stop there either.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Ernst is waging an aggressive campaign to derail Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense.
According to sources close to the Trump campaign, Ernst has been making direct appeals to former President Donald Trump, urging him to withdraw Hegseth’s nomination and positioning herself as a potential replacement.

Ernst is up for reelection in 2026, and many want to see Iowa native and Trump-Endorsed Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake return to her home state to remove her.
This comes after Lake’s questionable race for Senate in Arizona. The Gateway Pundit reported that Arizona’s largest county, Maricopa County, began putting out bogus numbers right when everybody expected Lake to take the lead in the race. We further reported on other bizarre anomalies across the state in Pima, Yuma, and Cochise County. Despite President Trump and GOP candidates backed by Lake winning by a landslide, they want us to believe that Lake lost to radical left Democrat Ruben Gallego.
Additionally, Stephen Richer, the top election official in Maricopa County, where over 60% of Arizona voters reside, also sued Kari Lake for defamation ahead of the 2024 election, which he oversaw. It was also revealed in court documents that Richer is a self-proclaimed “anti-MAGA” individual whose life mission, in his own words, is to “make life hell for Kari Lake,” according to private text messages. How can anybody trust this guy to run a fair election?
As Richer said in his private messages, “Kari’s a behemoth within the national Republican party.” He also said, “It would take somebody of great political acumen or finance to beat her.”
Talk of Kari running for Senate in Iowa all started when conservative influencer Rogan O’Handley, known online as DC Draino, suggested that Kari Lake should replace Ernst, saying on X,
Ok hear me out
@KariLake was born and raised in Iowa
What if she returns home to primary Joni Ernst in 2026 and take her Senate seat?
Say what you will but Kari is really good at winning GOP primaries
And that’s all it would take to win in dark red Iowa now

About two hours later, O’Handley reported that the topic of Lake challenging Ernst was trending with over 16,000 posts. “People want Ernst out and Lake in,” he said.
