The Democrats on the House Oversight Committee reached an agreement to obtain Trump’s financial records from the former president’s accounting firm Mazars USA.
The Supreme Court previously blocked a House subpoena for President Trump’s financial records.
The House Oversight Committee in April 2019 first issued a subpoena to Trump’s accounting firm Mazars USA for the last 7 years of Trump’s financial records.
The case got bounced around in the lower courts so Trump’s personal lawyer Jay Sekulow asked the US Supreme Court to put the case on hold while they prepare to appeal rulings from the lower courts.
After years of legal battles, Democrats on the Committee said Mazars has agreed to “produce responsive documents to the Committee as expeditiously as possible.”
“After numerous court victories, I am pleased that my Committee has now reached an agreement to obtain key financial documents that former President Trump fought for years to hide from Congress,” Democrat Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney wrote.
“After facing years of delay tactics, the Committee has now reached an agreement with the former President and his accounting firm, Mazars USA, to obtain critical documents,” Maloney said.
Maloney continued, “These documents will inform the Committee’s efforts to get to the bottom of former President Trump’s egregious conduct and ensure that future presidents do not abuse their position of power for personal gain.”

The political persecution of Trump continues.
Last month, just one day after the FBI raided Trump’s Florida residence, a court ruled that the former president’s tax returns must be released to the House Ways and Means Committee.
A panel for the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled 3-0 on Monday, upholding a prior decision by a federal judge.
Trump will likely take this fight to the Supreme Court.
